Seasons

November in California

November 2010

The road I most travel in California is probably the 99. It's more by necessity than desire. It's by turns flat and boring and a little odorous because of all the dairy farms along the way. But it is filled with orchards. In the spring they blossom in a rainbow of pastel beauty and the sweet smells almost extinguish the hint of manure. Almost. In the fall, they look like this.

  2. Stunning! Seeing such a beautiful scene would almost make it easy to forget the smell of manure.

  3. The manure smell would only remind me of back home in my youth. I've never taken the 99 north of Bakersfield. Hmm.

  4. K & Katie - thank you!

Petrea - I wouldn't worry about making a special trip to do so. ;)

  5. Nothing to see? Even for lovers of entropy and nothingness?

  6. Possibly. Unless you like to stop at random jerky and cheese stands. There is one of those along the way.
